'POS-LINK 21' is probably the most secure e-pos system
available. With no PC keyboard or mouse, misuse is virtually impossible.
An essential feature is that tills can function
independently of each other, with no reliance on a back-office server or a
'master' till'. We've put all the functionality into every till where it's
needed. This also makes it a very cost-effective solution for single-till
stores.
As standard, each till has two hard drives installed to
allow automatic backup of software and data. Data loss due to hardware
failure is a thing of the past ! Any small amount of data not
automatically recovered after a disk failure will be manually recoverable
from the duplicate copy of the 'audit roll' on the second disk.
The electronic 'audit roll' is available for twelve months
(or more) in-store. A second copy, maintained on the other hard drive for
security, is sent to Head Office each night and archived for reference by
administrative staff.
Till users can be identified by keyed user number or magnetic staff-cards. Restricted functions, for instance refunds or discounts, can be authorised by keylock or staff-card (each staff-card has an authority level encoded). Password protection is also available, e.g. for support and maintenance functions.
